I'm painting onto mdf for a viv and I was wondering if a couple of coats of a hard wearing enamel varnish mean I don't have to use yacht varnish?

Posted - 16/05/2012 : 23:13:58 I'm going to try B and M on the weekend, looks like they have some for about £8. Their website isn't that descriptive though it just says 'varnish' £7.99 but in the picture it has one with yacht varnish on. Other than that its B and Q at £15 |

Posted - 16/05/2012 : 14:35:11 Not sure how enamal paint would take to wood, as its normally for non porous materials. |

Posted - 16/05/2012 : 13:12:47 It wont be waterproof though if you leave it bare, so will probably get stained when they toilet on it lol.

Posted - 14/05/2012 : 20:38:55 Sorry enamel paint not varnish :p I think I'll just leave the MDF bare as opposed to painting it. I can't be bothered with the hassle :p |

Posted - 14/05/2012 : 19:31:33 I would think so, just needs to be waterproof so probably. Id just leave it to air out for a long time to make sure there are no fumes etc.
