Posted - 16/02/2010 : 08:42:33 Offered Stella a 6.5g Fuzzy this morning, her biggest single fuzzy to date.
She struck at it but didnt really constrict, then devoured it and as we speak (1 hour after feeding) is still looking around for more food! She is about 45g now and 20" long at 8 months old.
Thanks
Gaz

Posted - 16/02/2010 : 16:43:49 im giving mont 2 chunky fuzzies for several feeds - im not sure how many im going to give him tbh - am going to see how he does with just them first you could give medium mice instead of 2 small mice and then move up to large mice - that way its a natural steady increase
glad iv been able to help |

Posted - 16/02/2010 : 16:36:53 How long do you think she needs to be on 2 x Fuzzys for before going onto small mice?
And do you feed 2 x small mice before the jump to large mice? etc.
Thanks again

I only weighed because at first i had no idea how much food to give, so went off the feeding chart, and ive just carried on weighing every feed.
Now that Stella is taking Fuzzys with no problem, should i start offering 2 x Fuzzys each feed?
Then i suppose i feed 2 x fuzzys untill she is big enough for small mice?
Thanks
Gaz
personally id keep her on one large fuzz for a few more feeds..simply because shes only just had her biggest fuzzy and you dont want to rush her with too big a meal too soon
but yeah when shes used to the bigger fuzzies then you could offer 2 slightly smaller fuzzies and then 2 larger fuzzies so that its not a massive jump up for her
but you'll know when shes ready |

Posted - 16/02/2010 : 13:12:54 hey Gaz, i dont weigh the corns food..i dont see the point tbh, in the wild it doesnt happen so i go by size..the super small mice are probably a bit bigger than two large fuzzies (which is what mont is on now) although you've made me curious so il weigh one tonight and 2 fuzzies aswell.. they are the equivalent to hoppers - my shop doesnt get hoppers in so i picked out the smallest mice out they had last time i weighed him (which was 3weeks ago) he weighed in at about 65-70g's, hes due to be weighed tonight anyway so will update when iv done that sorry its all a bit vague..I dont bother weighing the food as i dont think it makes much difference, the snake will grow just as well without weighed food..in the wild they get what they can and its never going to be the same weight or a slight increase on the last meal they had.. plus with 7 snakes to cater for I'd probably get myself super confused! |

Posted - 16/02/2010 : 09:58:25 I think she did!
Does it look okay size wise? She seemed to gobble it down quite quickly considering its the biggest shes had.
Thanks
