those are no good vix, they arent accurate and on the wall they are measuring ambient air temps rather than floor temp. digi ones are fab, and there are some super cheap ones on

I dont mean to hi-jack this post i have just bought two of these thermometer's could you post a pic on how you have got them set up in your viv please.

P.s your viv looks cool like the hangy basket

Regards Chris & Cornflake

simply run the probe through the cable hole in the back of the viv, or whatever it is you have, then place the probe right next to your stat probe, in the very centre of the heat mat.

I was just wondering if there was anything else

Sb is right, you will need to get a digital thermometer or too, luckily they are pretty cheap.

Looks nice, but you may find he wont go out into the open space and will skirt along the edges.

How are you heating it?, controling the heat source?, and what are you using to measure the temp?

i put him in there with his coconut and he kept poping his head out then i went out the room and he has moved didnt know where and then after keeping my eye out he was in the bird house thing on the side of the tank god knows how he got in there didnt think he be able to reach it till i but branches in there he seems happy, there was a post on how to make your own hides, but it has gone im disappointed,

Looks really nice! How did Menga respond?
n/a Posted - 04/09/2009 : 09:35:14

thanks :D great advice from every one also sandwich boxes are good as well, got a snake called fatty at college and he will not use special nice looking hides sandwich box only. lovely snake not nice to look at at the moment as college rescued here few years ago from someone feeding it a mouse a day and came very obese and now is losing weight which is good. :-)
Kellog Posted - 04/09/2009 : 03:05:53
Well spotted that he likes to hide under his water bowls and a great idea to give him what he likes but empty! Good idea lilmissvix! HannahB is right though, you can easily add toilet tubes or cardboard boxes as hides with no extra cost. You are doing really well with Menga, which is great to see. xxx
HannahB Posted - 03/09/2009 : 23:05:35
ah right if theres no water thats fine lol
loo rolls make good cheap hides
n/a Posted - 03/09/2009 : 22:27:36
i put two in becuz he likes hiding under them, and as i havent got many hides in there and he still small i though it may help him a bit, there is no water in the other one. lol
