So I went to get Sid out tonight same as I do each night and he rattled his tail at me.
Didn't know they did this. The book I've got on corns doesn't mention it.
I take it it was a warning , don't pick me up.
I picked him up anyway. Was as good as gold when I got him out apart from when my wife came to say hello and he struck out at her finger.LOL

He only did it that day. Not done it since.

Jake was always a huge rattler, until I housed him with Saphira (they were a dream together, with plenty of space, plenty of hides and not a single conflict between them). He completely stopped rattling and was a lot more at ease when being handled. Due to Saphira's surgery, I had to split the two up again though. Jake is now back to his old rattly self...

I hope your little one will get used to you and stop rattling soon :)

Disclaimer: I'm not saying you should house snakes together to stop rattling btw. There are many disadvantages to housing them together, so such decisions should not be taken lightly and may not solve any issue you might want to solve with it.

Corno tends to do it when she is heading into blue :D

Lucky it's just once. Cola rattles every time we go in for him. It's a bit daunting as if he does it fully grown kids will be terrified so hopefully hewill stop some time .

It tends to be a warning they dont carry out most times. My two very occasionally do it, but its rare.

Yep, it is a warning - "leave me alone, I'm grumpy " type... :-) It's mostly a bluff, as you found out.
