Posted - 24/04/2013 : 15:56:27 Well,here's the lovely Peppa (aka Astrid)enjoying her new hahitat
All I did was;clean a reclaimed viv and learn to wire it up and get some vines from Dunelm Mill and find some sticky pad backed snake friendly hooks to secure it and wait for it all to warm up not forgetting lignocell and her old bedding so it smelled nice and familiar and then installed madame Peppa.Environment enriched
Here's Georgey in the viv next to her-he's not quite so enthused
The hidey-hole he's in was originaly used in one of our aquaria. |

That has to be one of the reasons why we love 'em so very much |

Posted - 01/05/2013 : 10:23:16 Fantastic pics. I have to hold my hand up as an owner of a snake that would rather climb up than go for a hide. She is just growing out of her first home, so we are making her big girl house with this in mind. I just love how different snakes display such an array of personalities and preferences |

I love the fact that they are getting that sort of response , which is very naughty of me as a parent....I should be supporting them, not the disobedience of their child ! I'd be feeding her 'choklit' too!

Lots of people who love/care for their snakes keep them quite successfully in plastic boxes/RUBS, especially breeders....but they treat them respectfully and not as 'merely dumb reptiles'.
To clicker train a child....that leaves me speechless !

Posted - 26/04/2013 : 09:39:30 Yes I know what it is, we tried it with our dog... but not with our kids, maybe that's where we went wrong? :O |

Er, um...
nope, I'm dumbfounded by that last sentence [/quote] 'clicker training'is when you give a dog a command, and when the command has been obeyed to your satisfaction, you 'CLICK'the clicker and give the dog a treat or praise. It is also used to get the dogs attention. So now you know-good training technique for dogs, questionable for children |

Thanks-I know some folks keep snakes in boxes-over here I have a dear friend who was a very succesfull at breeding many different snakes, they all lived in plastic tubs with newspaper and a water bowl and that was it. I guess they bred because they were bored?! My guys do seem to enjoy a good rummage about/sniff around whatever I put in with them. George likes the scent of citrus fruit a whole orange IS fascinating |
