Posted - 12/04/2013 : 22:12:10 Evening all.
So this little one is called Sixx. Unsexed butter motley.
Wee story behind him/her (ima say him as its easier).
I have known his owner for a few years, and her husband for many more.
She recently went to view a couple of beardies (more out of interest as I have been helping her with a set up etc for the last couple months in the hopes she would get herself a little baby beardie this season.) however when she got there they were in awful condition. (Both of them in a 2 foot viv, no correct lighting, just a heat mat, both VERY under weight/dehydrated etc). She couldnt just leave the with their owners (whos kid had gotten them as a present but eventually got bored and just stopped feeding etc.) so she brought them home with her, separated them, and now has the both in the correct set ups etc. Shes been feeding them up/bathing them (i gave her some reptiboost) etc and already after a few weeks they are looking alot better (Boomers been donating some of her softshells/juvie roaches from her colony with them )
Unfortunately, she has now to make the choice of rehoming a couple of geckos and this beauty, if she wants to continue caring for the 2 beardies.
He was up for sale but the person never came for him, and my friend didnt wanna re-list the advert as she loved him so much and it was hard listing him in the 1st place.
We both got talking and hes now gonna be staying with us until things improve at home.. although I have said to her he's too delicious and so is welcome to stay here We see eachother once a week for a playdate so she can still see him all the time etc
Anyway. Long winded post, I apologise. Only a couple of pics as hes a very nervous snake (apparently a puppy of a sook when out and about though.) and I want him to settle well.

Posted - 13/04/2013 : 11:29:01 Oh Mamma another little family member tucked firmly under your wing and what a little beauty he is. I hope the beardies manage to come through this without too much lasting damage and I am more than happy to send/donate your friend some silkworms on a weekly basis while they are both being built up or for as long as she wants them. If she wants to try them just drop me a line on janeburgess233 (at) btinternet.com and i'll get them sorted.

Posted - 13/04/2013 : 09:25:25 He's stunning Mamma, I wouldn't mind giving him home, either :-) I reckon there would be a fight over him, if he was on offer ;-)
Hope the beardies will be ok, people who let animals get in such a state drive me mad. It's not exactly rocket science to get the basics right, and to change water and throw in some food. At least they are in good hands now. |

Ok ty herriot I shall pass this info on |

Posted - 13/04/2013 : 08:17:42 I think they will be ok. ALthough they arent showing any immediate signs of MBD in limbs, the male has slightly off jaws (his bottom one doesnt seem to connect with his top one properly. Kinda hangs infront of where his top part of his jaw finishes.) Faecal tests for parasite etc are soon to be sent off too. Not sure how long this wee dude will be with us, but checked on hi this morning and hes all cosied up in his warm hide watching the world.
*edit* forgot to mention the beardies are male and female, both meant to be at least 2/3. Luckily the female has never laid, and doesnt seem to be gravid, although from what I have read they can possibly retain sperm? Can anyone confirm this at all please? Thank you. |

Posted - 13/04/2013 : 00:12:41 They ate in good hands now for sure. My kids wanted to see photos of them, but need to wait till they have gained more weight.. The pics I have of them are very distressing looking |

Awww he is lovely, such a lovely little face. He reminds me so much of my corn snake when I first got her , so nervous but so easy to fall for. If I had a spare viv would have him myself :)
