if you want to encourage a good coil/constrict, then when you offer the mouse, wiggle it a bit, tease the snake, and after it has struck and grabbed the mouse from you, quickly grab hold of the mouses tail again and gently tug. the snake feels the mouse trying to get away, and will like as not then coil round it to stop it 'escaping'...
when they've done a good coil once or twice, it tends to sort of come automatically afterwards.
hth

(tho they can also randomly stop coiling, too- as one of mine has done. she's gone into lazy mode recently- won't strike if she can help it, she just ambles up to the mouse, snuffs it all over, then gently picks it up and chomps down sooo slowly

Awww, bless him, that's the start of a constrict. Maybe next time he'll coil a bit more!

Really pretty, the constriction might happen, Kellogs is 2 and never had a strike or constrict, tried for a really pathetic strike and scared herself!
