Please say hello to Pinball!

Pinball is a 1.0.0 Normal with no known hets but looking at his messy pattern he's obviously het for something!!!

We don't have a hatch date but we are going to say he's two months old which makes his hatch date 28.05.12

Could this be a bit of Aztec???

Well, it does look Aztec in the middle section, perhaps as it grows the rest of the pattern will break up?
Aztec is similar to 'Zig Zag' (sometimes thought of as the same thing) and from all the evidence I have gathered, a selective bred trait which, like all other patterns and colours, can be inherited.
However, I would be really interested to see what evidence SexyBear77 has for her statement as I also have an Aztec myself.

Edit: Went off to specifically search and found this:

"Extensive experimental work has shown that even minor details
of those thermal regimes can influence a wide array of phenotypic
traits of the hatchlings that emerge: for example, incubation
temperatures can modify a hatchling reptile’s sex, body size, body
shape, colour, activity level, locomotor performance, and antipredator tactics (Deeming, 2004)"

So it is possible indeed but this is in general and not specifically Aztec. Thoughts?

The Deeming study is 300+ pages long so quite in depth but you have to pay per day to read it! I wish they would make these studies more openly available.

even if he isnt het for anything, we still absolutely love him!!

He is so easy to handle too!

He's lovely.

I wouldn't say his pattern has anything to do with possible hets though, "Aztec" patterns like that are random, non-inheritable and often crop up as the result of incubation problems.

He is gorgeous though.

we fell in love with him when we visited the pet store last week. I have never seen a Normal like him!
