Nice snakes!

That was my concern, slightly wrong to sell him on so quickly hopefully he is safe and being looked after bless him, gave stuart another oil bath today yet again no signs of mites at all, going to keep him at bare minimum for another week until I'm 110% sure, one question I can still feed him as normal right?
SexyBear77 Posted - 22/11/2011 : 23:27:51
Tbh I think it's pretty bad that the shop have sold the snake again so soon- wouldve thought they'd have monitored him for a week or so for any sign of mites or other potential issues. Doesnt say much about their care imo.

Sure he has gone to a great new home though.

Really sorry you had to take him back, hopefully any new owners reading this thread will take note
sonnyandstuart Posted - 21/11/2011 : 17:56:51
Spoke to the owner today, he said they put him in a rub over night on kitchen roll and there wasent any signs of mites and they checked there other snakes and nothin and apparently someone went there today and bought eddie, glad that he's going to be looked after, stuarts still looking good so hopefully he will be fine thanks for the advice guys

Shame you took him back, hope the pet shop get him treated before selling him on, or will you have him back when treated? Good that Stuart seems to be clear

I took the caramel back, gave stuart an oil bath a disinfected his tank and the room there was no mites on the kitchen roll or my hands when I dried him he's been back in his tank all day and there's none anywhere so hopefully I thought wrong I just hope they take care of eddie back there and he's ok:(

I haven't actually seen anything move but there's black dots and I see black dots in the towel I might be worrying and imagining things I just hope there ok:( thanks for the support
SexyBear77 Posted - 19/11/2011 : 20:54:56
Look closely around the eyes, mouth and vent on each snake. Mites on the body should be moving about a little bit. Certainly, if you are offered a product like Ardap to treat the caramel then treat the normal as well.
sonnyandstuart Posted - 19/11/2011 : 20:36:00
I've taken both tanks down to a bare minimum with tissue bedding and given them baths I'm unsure if its mights there's no pretuding lumps on them but I'm sure I see a black dot vanish on the new one, I'm taking it back to the shop tomorrow to try and resolve it I'm literally in tears over stuart I'm hoping he hasent caught mites :'(

Is the Carolina in fact an Okeetee? The black bands look thicker than normal?

Nice looking snakes tho!
SexyBear77 Posted - 19/11/2011 : 17:03:47
There is no point in worrying- chances are they will be fine, it's just that its never a good idea to introduce a new snake to the rest of your collection until its been quarantined for a period of time.
