Hey guys sorry ive not been around much the last two weeks some of you may/not know i have chronic asthma and copd and the last 2 weeks have been a bit hellish for me and even such a simple thing as using the puter is dificult because i just dont have the energy to move saw my lung specialist yesterday and ive had a battery of tests and have to go back for more in two weeks it seems they think theres some underlying cause for the constant flare ups and wanna get to the bottom of it which means i have to play guinea pig for a while longer ugh ....

Anyway on a more positive note the Snakes are all thriving they are getting noticably bigger especially eddie whose really gaining girth maybe im overfeeding hes only getting 1 hopper a week lol
Barl is in blue atm so i skipped feeding her today (not taking any chances after last time!!) i got a cracking piccy of artemis earlier and thought id share it with you all thankyou and best wishes

Sorry to hear that you've had a rough couple of weeks. I hope the steroids and antibiotics do their job and you start feeling better soon.

The snakes are looking great.

Thanks guys the msges really mean a lot nice to know your not alone isnt it its kinda scary how common its becoming (1 in 5 ppl have it in some form nowdays) i agree ive had it on off since i was five then funnily enough when i gave up smoking ten years ago it came back with a vengeance and a couple years later then they diagnosed me with copd too i havent had a major attack (by major i define a hospital stay) for 5 years now but i do get frequent infections which is not good cause then i get scarring in the lungs which reudces my capacity even more ugh really appreciate the comments guys best wishes to you all x

P.s thanks for the photo comments too lol

Mines not allergy related either. Apparently s couple of chest infections in quick succession triggered mine last year. Hey ho. Life goes on!

Lovely pics especially Artemis with the mouse leg sticking straight up lol.

And guess what I also have asthma and my 15 year old son has just been diagnosed with it as well. I am quite lucky in that I usually only have a major attack once or twice a year that need steroid treatment but I know what you are going through. I was diagnosed when I was 3 so have learnt to cope with it over the last 35 years. It amazes me just how many people seem to have asthma these days. It use to be thought of as quite a rare condition and now it would seem its extremely common to here that people have asthma. I think this stupid weather we keep having is not helping, warm one day cold the next. I know alot of people with asthma and other lung conditions and everyone seems to be struggling at the moment. Hugs to you and I hope your breathing soon starts to get easier for you x.

I also have lung problems (not fully diagnosed but borderline asthma/copd) - so can really relate to what has been posted here. Montelukast didn't help me one bit though!! I also appear to be allergic to my pets (snakes are ok - just the mammals).

I cannot get rid of the animals though - they are my life. So I just take a few medications to help me breathe!!!

Your snakes look really healthy. Great pics.
paulie78 Posted - 06/11/2011 : 00:21:11
Yup it sucks Simmy and with the copd too it can get pretty nasty pretty quickly ive lost 30 percent of my lung function already over the last few years but lifes too short to mope around just gonna keep on going till i cant lol
Thanks they are probably the most asthma friendly pets i have lmao my lung specialist is not a fan funnily enough but he says hes definately pro any pets that dont create masses of dust for me to clean up lol

Casta i dont have allergic asthma or any known allergys been tested a few times now however ive always maintained the fact that even if i did turn out to be allergic to my cats (or other pets) theres no way id get rid of them because firstly i made a commitment to them and secondly because the amount of pleasure they give me and the companionship i get from them far outweighs any negatives i just wouldnt replace them if anything happened to them
if my athsma was triggered by dust id be seriously buggered lmao lucky for me its not
Casta Posted - 05/11/2011 : 23:53:23
might it be an alergy? my asthma was really bad and can flare up viciously when exposed to dust etc... took me weeks to recover from it afterwards. hope you feel better.
Simmy_82 Posted - 05/11/2011 : 23:32:48
Asthma is a pain! I recently developed it (at 29). Worse times my peak flow is 350. So I can imagine how bad 250 is! Normal for me is around 500 but like you say should be around 600-650!

Snakes looking well!!
paulie78 Posted - 05/11/2011 : 22:28:15
Thanks very much guys ugh Tordyjo i know your pain lol im on steroids and antibiotics more often than not lately i take montelukast and it does help me a lot also mepradec but i also take my inhalers (seretide 250,ventolin and respimat) my peakflow atm is around 230-240 my emergency intervention cutoff is 300 my actual peakflow should be around 650-700 but on a good day its around 350 ugh sleeping upright does help but i just cant seem to nod off cause it feels so unnatural lol
tordyjo Posted - 05/11/2011 : 22:23:30
love the pics, i know how you feel paulie, i have chronic asthma too, i'm just coming to the end of my second course of steroids and antibiotics, inhalers have been increased for the second time in a month and they've started me on montelukast to see if that makes a difference - it just seems at the moment no matter what i do i can't get my peak flows up. I know the feeling with energy, i'm wiped out with the simplist of tasks, hope they get you sorted soon and you feel better, even to get a decent nights sleep helps - have they invented a comfortable sitting up sleeping position yet?? take care hun xx
