I had no intention of getting any more snakes, 2 was my limit. That was until I walked into my local pet shop and saw this little guy.....

He's a caramel motley (caramot).

I couldn't take him home today as I don't have a heat pad or thermostat for him yet. They tried to sell me his 'complete' set-up, which consisted of a 9 litre rub, a heat pad and a plastic flower pot hide, for £45! Needless to say I didn't take them up on the offer. Lol.

Now I just need to think of a name.......

Corns are soooo addictive, I started out 6yrs ago with 2, I had 23 adults at the beginning of this year (unfortunately lost a few to old age ) came back with 3 corns from our hols in Cornwall 2yrs ago and came back this year with a blizzard, i just cant help myself lol.

I did a double take when I saw these pics! He is the absolute spitting image of one of my corns, who incidentally is a ghost motley, but yours has more motley....he's stunning!!
Just for comparison, here's my boy, it might just be me that thinks he looks the same

I tried to have a look on ians viv morph guide to show you a caramel and a ghost motley so you could see what you thought but it doesnt seem to be working for me

They actually had a yearling ghost motley that was sold last week (one of the guys that works in the shop breeds corns and has been selling off some of his holdbacks from last year). It was definitely more grey in colour and had the yellowing on the side of it's head.

Looking on Ian's Vivarium the one I've bought looks like the young caramel motleys they have pictured. They start off really dark and get more gold in colour as they get older. Hes certainly lighter in colour, more yellow, than he looks in the pics as it was quite dark in the shop.

Having said that I'm certainly no expert and wouldn't be overly surprised if he turned out to be something else (this was the shop that sold my amel as a candy cane, though even I knew that was wrong). I've no intentions of breeding, just bought him because I thought he was gorgeous, so it doesn't really matter.

I'll definitely be taking more pics when I get him home.

Caramac is very appropriate, but I tend to stick to more 'human' names for my animals.
It should probably be another 'B' name since I already have Barnaby and Bailey. I'm thinking maybe Byron at the moment, but I'll probably change my mind several times during the next week or so.

Gorgeous little guy can see why you couldn't come away with out him <3

Yeah they do still make Caramac bars, revolting things they were lol
awlred Posted - 02/10/2011 : 08:09:52
Ooooohhhh! I'd forgotten about Caramac bars, ok, ignore my earlier stupidity
Auld Baldy Posted - 02/10/2011 : 00:21:45
Caramac, do they still make that bar? I used to eat it and turn the same colour afterwards.

Great looking snake and the name is perfect. So this is absolutely the last addition?? Many have tried and ALL have failed. Resistance is futile.

He is a right little sweetie, as tarotpodge said, caramac is a great name, hated the bar though!

Can I make a motion that we refer to caramel motleys as carrots? Hmm? Please?

Very catching little carrot it is though, I can see why you gave in :)
