Say hello to the snake formally known as Severus.

Formally because we thought it was a blindingly clever and funny name for a snake (Severus Snake) however he really doesn't look like a Severus, so now we are at a loss

We have no idea what the name for the markings are other than very pretty. We've not set on a new name but thinking this evenings antics may well inspire it.

After visiting a friends house for a few hours we returned to see a seemingly empty vivarium. So we carefully and gently poke underneath everything and eventually lift the tank up and only just spot the tight coils of this pretty pale python (I know it's not but I like alliteration) amongst the Aspen. Of course before we noticed this we were both getting awfully nervous and checking there was no way our new little friend could have escaped and my heart was in my throat.

All is well and we now know that this little one can burrow itself away quite expertly.

If anyone can identify the markings please let us know, just for our own knowledge...

I think he looks like a candycane, because of all the white.

We've set up a facebook page for our friends to suggest names for him.

My personal favourite is "Essfer" but I also came up with Dufresne because he's a prolific little tunneller and I'm quite fond of my pop culture references.

Votes close on Sunday as that's when we can start petting before feeding him. We welcome suggestions from you all too...

Very nice, if he was mine I would call him Stuart, but then all of mine have what some people would class as odd names for snakes lol.

Brill pics, and don't worry about posting too many pics. Snake spam is great (don't know if that sounds a bit dodgy!)
