Posted - 07/07/2011 : 19:26:18 The vet costs of unblocking an impacted snake is VERY expensive a far far cheaper option is a square of kitchen roll. Its a precaution to avoid any discomfort for your animal and expense for you. It is quite likely you'll never have a problem but it can happen and if a square of kitchen roll can shift the odds in your favour then come on people, you can buy 2 rolls for about £1 at Tesco, they aren't fussy for your plenty just cheap roll is fine. (Also really handy when spot cleaning). |

Posted - 07/07/2011 : 19:10:36 I feed all mine on aspen , from snakes a couple months old upwards . I have never yet seen aspen stick to a pinky or mouse , as long has it's dried off beforehand . And if anything does stick , it's a minimal amount . So really , I would'nt worry .
It's the old , well in the wild allsorts could stick to the fur before the mouse is ingested . |

i thought aspen could be digested?
So did I. Maybe not small snakes though but I have read that it is fine for bigger snakes. If I put tissue down, he just takes the mouse to a non tissued part of the viv anyway...lol |

Thats me in the old dog house ... lol
Obviously being new to owning a corn snake, we were not aware of this. We know now anyway, as we've been reading various websites etc. |
