As Bailey is refusing to eat at the moment and I am desperate to hold him do I have to wait until he has eaten or can I just give him the week or so settling in time ?

It is advised to wait until they feed before handling as feeding is a good sign they are settled and not stressed. Its not a set in stone rule its only advisable.
