Hi my corn is about 2 and a half years old he is a good size but just started having flaky skin, what is this and what does it mean.
Is it the fact that he did not shed properly or needs to shed?
and will a bath do him any godd if so how do I bath him? can they swim?

A bath is not gonna compound scale rot, however, if its scale rot then he doesn't need a bath and there is no point stressing him. Pics are a must, if it it scale rot then he is too damp, easiest way to treat is to take away the cause, put him on kitchen towel, take way anything that may hold moisture.
Only thing that strikes me, when corns get scale rot, or any snake for that matter, its usually on the belly, so have a good look there first.
If you do bathe, then just make sure he is totally dry before putting him back. |

What is the humidity like in his viv? That is something that could cause scale rot.
I am not sure whether a bath is the right thing to do if it is scale rot Amy, I dont know anything about it....but if you do give him a bath you can do it in a RUB, sink, washing bowl, bath whatever is a good size. Put a digital thermometer in it to make sure that the water is between 27 and 28 degrees. It should be deep enough that his belly can touch the floor in case he wants to rest, approx 2". Let him swim in it for a couple of minutes (maximum of 10) or until the temps drop to around 22 degrees. He will have no desire to be in the water, and will try to escape as much as possible, so be prepared for a fast snake as well.
But I really would check this out with a vet as to whether this is the right thing to do in these circumstances.

Thanks for coming back to me i dont have pics can desicrbe: -
He has flaky skin from his head down about an inch.
Some parts is like loose scales and others have green mould like colour.
I need to give him a bath but im not sure how
Can snakes swin?

As in the skin is flaking off each scale? Does it look like he is about to shed at all? When did he last shed?
