Hello....yes im back again!

This time its for advice. Angelina hasnt eaten for 5-6 weeks now and im unsure why! She is extremly active at the moment, like 24/7! Ive checked the temps and all good, so im wondering could she be horny?? If not then im lost as to whats wrong. I keep trying to feed her but she has no interest, at first i thought it could be the mice so i changed them but the same results!

Anyway some advice would be grateful, thanks alot

Might be best starting your own thread you are more likely to get a response that way.

That is great to hear Ben, thanks so much for letting us know. I hope that is was just her shedding that was affecting her behaviour and that her next feed is just as successful.

No thanks needed....that is what the forum is for !!

i had the same problem with kasey who hadnt eaten since march.i used to refer to him as her but after reading some posts on here and him going from eating well to having no interest at all and constantly mooching around and trashing the viv, i came to the conclusion she must be a he-must get him sexed!he's now eating again so maybe angelina is an angelino? hope you get some progress soon as i know how worrying it can be

Keep a chart of his weight. If he's not losing any weight, then it's most likely he's horny. If he's losing weight, there may be an issue. If you're worried, there are things like reptiboost etc that you can add to their water to keep their health up a bit.

ooh I have this problem too. Cornflake hasn't eaten for 4 weeks now. He (or she, as he/she/it hasnt been sexed) is very active as he normally is round feeding day. He's always mooching round every day and night but when i try to feed him he cowers away from the mouse. He's normally a strike feeder so its been quite worrying. He's about 2 and a half and about an inch short of 4ft. Should I wait it out? or could he be poorly. He still looks healthy, has a great skin.
p.s sorry for my long absence folks!

I dont know much about you Ben, or Angelina....but are you sure she is a she? Her behaviour is the exact same as that of my horny males, no interest in food and extremely active 24/7.

Are you weighing her? It might be a good idea to so that you can see whether she is losing weight. That is the advice given to me when I first joined the forum a year ago when Kellog first went off his food (and stayed off it for 13 weeks). It also started from the moment I bought him so I was a new owner as well. I started weighing him and although there was a weight drop it wasnt a massive one....and after checking everything like temps etc, and going by his behaviour, I was reassured that I just had to wait him out - keep offering him food on feeding day, keep weighing him and one day he will suddenly eat.

Now both my males are doing it!

I would think that if it were a reason other than being down to breeding season then surely she would lose weight quite quickly as she isnt eating? I am not an expert Ben, so can only go by my experience with my males and the advice given to me at the time.

I think there are some members of the forum whose females seem to have gone off their food too.

Have you checked out this link to see if anything helps - http://www.thecornsnake.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1070?

Hmmmm, I think females feed right up until they're gravid so that they can survive the mating and pregnancy. Don't quote me on it though! lol.

EDIT: Kitty, it sounds like you've got a problem feeder. How old is it and how long have you had it? Did the breeder/pet shop tell you if it was a strong feeder?

Alot of people on here have males that have gone of their food apparently because of the breeding season.

I'm not sure wether it also applies to females though.

In answer to your Qs Scarlett, i think shes around the sizes and age for mating, thats why i thought that! As for shedding it has been awhile since her lasr but shes usually good during shed and still takes food. Lastly she has stopped pooing but i assumed thats because she isnt eating.

How long do they stay "aroused" for? lol Should i just keep trying to feed her or wait til she becomes less active?

Thanks for the response

im having that problem myself with my snow she last ate 4 weeks ago and it was 3 weeks b4 that. im going to try her again today fingers crossed but i guess she will eat when shes hungry. my partners snake herbie is loving it cause he gets the mice cause i was fed up binning them. good luck
Scarlett Posted - 20/05/2010 : 16:34:28
I'm just going to ask the questions other people will end up asking lol.

Is she due to shed?
Is she still pooing?
How old and big is she? (As she'll only go off her food when ready to mate, but only if she's old enough to be in it in the first place)

Also what's your set up for feeding her?

Edit: I just looked at some of your posts of her feeding, so I'm assume she's at the right size and age for mating. My guess is she is just "in the mood" and wants to watch her figure ;) lol.
