My friend has a corn snake that is readily taking food but puking it up after 2-3 days.
This has been happening for about 4-5 weeks now.
The snake is about a year old and has no other problems.
Changed the food supply already in case the current food was off.
Swapped back and forth between small mice and fluffs but same thing happening.
Would appreciate feedback in case anyone has had this before. |

sounds like you're doing the right thing meela
after the last regurge the snake's digestive system needs time to recover and get the gut flora back into balance which is why waiting 10 days is recommended

Where the snake got moved into a smaller container, then the heat was slowly increased, it sounds like they introduced water into the smaller container.
Although it could be open to interpretation either way. |

Been round tonight to check and found the snake very limp and skinny looking and hardly moving. Noticed that the viv has been changed for a larger one.
Although temp sensor was reading okay at low level i found the ambient temp to be cold.
put the snake in a smaller container and slowly started to increase his temp and immediately noticed more movement.
introduced some water and he took quite a lot.
suggested to my friend to leave the snake in the smaller container on the heat mat and scrunch up newspapers around it to contain the heat. I will check on it tomorrow and see if he will take a small mouse. I think the temp is the problem and we will see tomorrow. Thank you for your words of wisdom and i'll let you know how it turns out. |

2-3 days it should be........
if the temps are wrong the food item could rot in the snake's stomach faster than it's digested - causing a regurge
or if it's handled too soon after a feed and is quite active while its out of the viv that could cause it too
forgot to ask, is it definitely regurge and not the other end? |

seconded, but make sure the vet IS a specialist, not like i did and see a normal vet.
and 2-3 days i`ve thought would be well on it ways to digestion |

regurge is often down to imcorrect temps or temp gradient, stress, or handling to soon after a feed....
what hot and cold end temps does your friend have his corn at? how is the viv heated and is the heat controlled?
what is the snake's enclosure like?
how often is it handled?
generally more than one regurge, if the cause isn't obvious or fixable, means the snake should be seen by a specialist exotics vet....... |
