I was given a couple of corn snakes today. One has a large bump on the top of its head. Apparently it has been like this for a while. I have heard of other snakes having this. What causes it? I've had a look online and can't find any info at all.

more likely to be a domed head that it was hatched with.......... could be to do with incubation temperatures/fluctuation and not a lot you can do about it really other than monitor it for any other signs of not doing well

Have you got a photo, could you upload one?

Does it look like it could be a burn, or more like an abscess?
