Make sure to take him to an exotics vet, it would be a waste of time and money to take him to a vet that doesnt deal with snakes.

Kehhlyr, you always ask the right questions, would be exactly what I wanted to know.
Plays2, I would be absolutely freaked out by what happened and very worried. Waiting to see what happens sounds ok but wont stop you worrying. Do you have anyone around you who really knows snakes who could check him out? xxx

How big/heavy is the top of the cage??
Did it drop from a fully open position (upright) to slamming down? or did it just drop from a semi-open point?
How old is the snake (roughly)?
How long is the snake (ish)?

Snakes are resilient but are also fragile. Make sure he's warm and sitting in the warm end, and keep an eye on him overnight.
Most certainly see if you can get him to somewhere that REALLY knows snake stuff.

I guess all you can do for now is see how he goes and maybe a trip to the vets?
