Hiya guys & galls hope you can help. I've recently been given a 7year old female amel corn. She settled in well but has recently laid a clutch of 16 eggs without problem even though she has never been with a male. We took them all away and she was a little subdued then shed. But over the past 4 days we have noticed at least 5 more eggs but she doesn't seem to be parting with them. I've tried bathing her on a friends advice but still no joy. Any ideas?

It's been a long time since she first laid til now. Can you still feel the eggs? I do hope she's ok.

If you do a search there is a thread on here where you should be able to find a specialist reptile vet in your area, if you can't find it one of the mods might be able to point you in the right direction.

I've tried the moist hide and she tried it out for a while but no joy. Think it's time to get her checked. Now I've just got to find a good reptile vet

Just realised my post made it look as if i expected the eggs to survive. I meant along the lines of they are fine and arnt causing problems for her.

As others have said really, make sure your vet knows their reptiles though. Try not to keep looking at her and just leave her be in a dark quiet place if you can till you can get her to a vet. Peeking at her and stress causes can make them hold onto eggs/egg bound.

I personally would take her to the vet for a check. Hope all is well and eggs are fine x

She still has 5 eggs inside her 4 days after laying? If so, time for a vet visit. Snakes can become eggbound which can be very dangerous.

Sorry no experience of breeding here but you can try popping in a moist hide for her to go into until someone with experience of breeding comes along.
