Hi, our corn snake Diego hasn't poo'd since the feed before last. he gets fed an adult mouse once a week and until now he would poo approximately 2 days later. Can snakes get constipation? By the way we feed him in his viv and put the mouse on kitchen roll so that he doesn't get substrate into him. Any responses welcome thank you.

Been having the same problem with Liquorice he seems to wait for 2wks before going and I have had to do a lot more handling to get him going, on a towel on my knee it works but not overly pleasant lol

I'm glad this has been resolved Susan . My Asher often goes from one feed to the next without doing anything. He's just had his 2nd meal without any relief, for the 1st time....so that's 3 weeks without doing anything ! I'm NOT looking forward to the conclusion of this .

As for giving them a bath to encourage them....had to bath my Silvi because she had retained shed. She was in the water awhile, no poo. Took her out, onto the 'snake towel' and managed to remove the old skin....at which point she slithered off the towel, onto the white bath mat and lifted her tail !! Luckily I got something between her and the white bath mat in time, or I would've been divorced now .

Xxx

Bathing often does the trick.
If you're not over sure about bathing then give him some extra exercise time out of his viv, that often helps too. Just make sure you're well prepared for the result!!

just let him wiggle on his own in the tub :) make sure the water isnt that hot at all and make sure its pretty shallow :)

Word of warning: There is quite a large chance he will try to do a runner, a lot of snakes don't like bath time, but in my experience it doesn't take long at all to get things moving

Would also be a good idea to rinse tub down first to make sure theres no shampoo or anything left in there

He shed 2 weeks ago, how do I bath him,do I let him go in the bath or hold onto him? Ta x

As Smart Bunny says some will hold on until a shed. if he isnt due, a lukewarm bath half as deep as the snake is high should sort him out :)

Is he due for a shed? I know some snakes 'save it up' when due a shed, just a thought but may be way out lol!
