This might be a strange question - but I'd like to know - if an adult female corn snake ovulates, but isn't mated, and doesn't lay eggs, is that it for the year/ breeding season, or do they ovulate again, after the next shed?
Like, for example, mares come in season throughout spring and summer, every three weeks. Whilst dogs - bitches, that is, only 2 x a year.
I'm asking, because of Bazil. She's over 2 years old, but last 4 sheds, she shed regularly, after about 41 days. She alternates - one shed cycle, she looks almost like she's cooking eggs, her rear half gets quite bulky. She then sheds - and the shed shows minimal growth, only about 0.5 cm. Then she's slim again, sheds again 41 days later - and shed shows several cm growth. Then she bulks up again, and the next shed shows almost no growth again. Then she's slim again, etc.?

Please, does someone know? I've been looking in all the books I have - found nothing, it's all just about breeding them.
