Posted - 17/02/2013 : 15:20:00 This might be a strange question - but I'd like to know - if an adult female corn snake ovulates, but isn't mated, and doesn't lay eggs, is that it for the year/ breeding season, or do they ovulate again, after the next shed? Like, for example, mares come in season throughout spring and summer, every three weeks. Whilst dogs - bitches, that is, only 2 x a year. I'm asking, because of Bazil. She's over 2 years old, but last 4 sheds, she shed regularly, after about 41 days. She alternates - one shed cycle, she looks almost like she's cooking eggs, her rear half gets quite bulky. She then sheds - and the shed shows minimal growth, only about 0.5 cm. Then she's slim again, sheds again 41 days later - and shed shows several cm growth. Then she bulks up again, and the next shed shows almost no growth again. Then she's slim again, etc.? |
