Posted - 10/02/2013 : 14:27:24 HI,
probably a common concern.
we got stevie ( 2yr old ) two and a half weeks ago. Lovely snake.
did pooh on first day but then hasnt done one since.
she has no problems feeding, had a mouse at end of first week and one 7 days later.
Is this Ok, or should I be trying to encourage a clearout. If so, how ?
thanks |

Posted - 11/02/2013 : 06:22:08 Hi, Ihave the sensor for the stat placed at the same level as top of substrate above the heat mat. no other form of temperature measurement. starting to think that maybe I should ?
thanks for taking the time to help |

Posted - 10/02/2013 : 21:25:20 if your using aspen its not unusual to miss the poo ;).
The mat shouldnt feel warm to the touch really, how are you measuring the temps on the substrate, as noticed you mention 84 on the stat and the dial on the stat shouldnt be used for gaugiing temps as its useless for that. |

Posted - 10/02/2013 : 21:22:20 temp is about 84 on the stat. using aspen. have been thinking about the temp. there is a good covering of aspen over the heat mat, but the heat mat does feel quite hot to the touch. wondering if its a a bit high as she spends a lot of time down cool end. the chap who sold me the snake came round and set the tank up for me. |

Posted - 10/02/2013 : 18:34:42 what temps have you got and what substrate are you using? |

Posted - 10/02/2013 : 18:23:39 Give it time to settle down into a routine before trying to rush things with a warm bath which can be stressful. It is possible that you have missed it and it has since dried up in the substrate. Some will be like clockwork some will take their time but most will go when you least expect it.
Just relax for a bit and don't panic, let nature take its course. |
