Hey everyone. So my corn has been in its new very large viv for a while now. But ive noticed the humidity is becoming an issue. The viv is 3.5' square so its huge. It has 3 levels each with a cave. But my snake is only staying on the highest humidity section. He is not shedding as he sheds fine, but the humidity is 9% almost through the viv except for where he stays, the coldest section at 22%. Im looking to increase this, obviously its a very large area so it takes a lot to increase the humidity. I had a large waterfall but the pump failed and its £45 to replace the waterfall as the pumps are no longer sold. So I was looking at maybe buying a fogger. This one to be exact

The idea was to put it on the hot section, on its lowest setting so it very slowly adds humidity. Obviously it wont increase it by huge amounts in such a large area. Has anyone else used one of these? And what humidity level would you recommend as in my old viv it was 55% and my corn came out much more then

Low humidity shouldn't really bother your corn snake, but you may need to provide a moist hide when he goes into blue to help him shed. High humidity can be more of a danger than low as it can cause Respiratory Infections (RI). |

If you are still worried about low humidity, you could either give the warm side - and just the warm side - of the viv a couple of puffs of mist from the plant mister, provided your viv gets a good ventilation.
Or, you could provide your snake with a moist hide ( though I'd only do this when he's in blue ). |

Thanks. I guess I better post in another section for some ideas. I love the idea of a tree stump water bowl but as theres no woodlands near me its rather hard |

Thick rope tarzan swings or if you are any good at braiding, use thinner. Carpet roll tube sections and gnarly branches.  |

Looks like I will be taking a trip down on monday. Would you recommend any plants?
Or any other ideas that may help fill the viv? Like thick rope etc. |

The area he is in is the only area which really has plants. The viv is very empty sadly as im struggling for ideas on how to fill it |

I can imagine is because if the type of heater you are using but as Audi says there no need to raise the humidity unless he has bad sheds x |

I would not bother with the waterfall idea. Corns do not really need the elevated humidity. 'Normal' room humidity is adequate. You might even cause problems with RI by raising it.
The only time that extra humidity would be required is if your snake had any previous shedding problems. The best solution would be to use a moist hide with damp sphagnum moss.
If your Corn is staying in one place just because it suits him and he's comfortable and feels secure. |

30'c on hot end
21'c on cold end
My room is very cold due to the winter. Being as low as 12'c but the room its in has a humidity of 48%
The viv is made of mdf which will draw the moisture out even though its varnished |
