Posted - 24/07/2012 : 17:26:47 Okay, so as in the photo section my first baby has hatched, but although roaming around it is still attached to the yolk sack. I've moved it onto damp kitchen roll in a cricket tub, as the perlite is very rough and didn't want it to snag snakey or the cord, it is responsive to touch etc but how long before it will have absorbed the required amount of yolk?
I've tried to research it, (that is why it is now on the damp roll). Is there anything I need to look out for? |

Posted - 25/07/2012 : 08:45:53 Okay, I've come down this morning and baby has broke away from the sack, so I've quickly weighed it. 2.6g...!! I'm dreading this guy, just thinking the worst! It is definitely more alert and roaming around its tub, got a hide and water down and investigating it all. But what portion of pinkie will it need?! |

Keep the kitchen roll damp so that the yolk sack doesn't dry out. |

I know you should offer a pinkie, but this bub is TINY, prob about 6-7 inches, and about the thickness of a shoelace! Should I just offer a head of the tiniest one I can find?
Some people feed just the pinkie head, might be worth a try? Good luck with your babies~ |

Posted - 24/07/2012 : 17:36:39 should take around 4-5 days to absorb the sac then it will shed shortly after and you can offer its first meal |
