Posted - 05/12/2012 : 22:15:40 I'm so trying this method as soon as Trevor has shed which should be any time now. I had no idea you could tell this way. I've seen his insides loads of times, so i should be able to use this method. |

Apparently if you candle your snake near the vent you should(or should not) see the hemipenis
Daft question but would it be above or below the vent? Im thinking below but I dont wanna be looking in the wrong place lol! Don't laugh at me.. |

Posted - 02/07/2012 : 17:34:10 Yeah my snow is nearly see through still lol, only a week or so old. Ive candled it a few times now and I can see two little dark reddish bits under the vent, is this what im looking for?
I'm not so fussed now and ive decided to keep it whether its male or female but Id still like to know lol |

Um how can you damage the egg when its a hatchie?
LMAO DOH!! just realised my mistake now the op said candling the snake i missed that bit i assumed candling was done to eggs and thought they meant candling the eggs to sex them ignore me ill be over there in the specials corner lol |

Posted - 01/07/2012 : 23:40:25 Hal my hatchling is pretty much see through, you dont need to do anything to see his boy bits sitting inverted. lol. Then again you can see most of his inners too. |

Posted - 29/06/2012 : 22:59:23 Forgot to mention in my previous post - I pretty much did this before Pinky developed any orange, so there was even less pigment. Might be harder as they get a bit older. |

Posted - 29/06/2012 : 19:41:26 I'm going to try this with Fraggle. No idea what sex he or she is, but we haven't got any sun, so I'll be going for bright LED lights!

Posted - 28/06/2012 : 18:51:22 I could do this with my amels last year by just holding them up against any light (or just by taking them outside in sunny weather). Doesn't take much as they are so see-through. I could see a lung as well, and could see it inflate and deflate as they breathed. Very fascinating! |

Posted - 27/06/2012 : 12:13:37 As above :) apparently it only really works on snakes without the black pigment (I read somewhere) So technically if you candle it's vent area, you should be able to see its 2 bits, and I'd you can't see any it's a girl. You could do it, come to your conclusion then see if the popper agrees :) |
