Posted - 16/01/2012 : 01:04:49 Hi just wondering what a healthy weight gain per week is for a young corn? Naboo is nearly 5 months old and last shed 3 week ago was 22inches he's weighing 37g at the minute I've changed his diet from fluffs to 2 pinkies once a week as I was concerned he was getting a bit porky! He's putting on between 1 & 2 grams a week. What is the range of a healthy weight gain? Cheers. |

Posted - 17/01/2012 : 15:55:50 Totally agree with what everyone else has said. Thing is its a baby, its growing all the time so making its food smaller again is going to make it lose weight and grow slower wich in its self could cause problems I think. I have 2 5 month olds that I kept on and both have never missed a feed, theve been on fluffs for a while now, they sometimes get a second feed during the week of a large pinki, they put on 2-3grams a week |

Posted - 16/01/2012 : 08:05:21 I think it would be impossible for a 5 month old corn to get porky. Keep feeding the fluffs as tordyjo says. |

Posted - 16/01/2012 : 07:13:54 he needs to be back on fluffs if he manage them, they are more nutricious for the snake, as at that age they do put on weight quite quickly 1-2g is quite normal my yearling is on 1small or medium mouse every 7-14 days and puts on at least 5g following each feed and now weighs 150g from the teeny 20g when we bought her home in may.
A good rule to go by is if you can't see a bump after they've fed then the prey is too small (except in adults), the mouse should be no more than 1.5 x the width of the body |
