I've noticed some strange scales near the jaw bone of my corn. They have been there for a while, but it hasnt affected her eating or any other things. I cant remember if they were there before she shed or if its something that appeared since she shed last.

Its on both sides, just wondering if its normal? Or if they are in fact just coincidently placed different coloured scales?

Thoughts please

Age: 5 Months
Length: 20"
Weight: 25g
Last Shed: 10/09/11
Feed: Just moved up to fuzzys with no problems

To me it just looks like different coluring on the scales,I am tired though!

Eh? They look like normal scales to me that are patterned.

Thanks eeji. I assume it's just general wear of her scales? And will shed out if it's damage?

everything looks fine to me from those pics :)

Will give them a rub over with my finger tonight see how they feel.

Not got any good ones pre her first shed with us. I'll keep an eye on them, she must be due a shed soon so will see what its like after that too.

EDIT: Found some other pics, not as good quality tho...

Before she shed...

Are the scales still smooth? as in, do they feel like the rest of her scales or do they have a slight texture to them? Or do you have any photos from before her last shed that you can compare her too?

When one of mine caught a patch of scales i found they felt rougher to touch. If it is a patch she has scuffed just keep and eye on it, make sure it doesn't worsen but if its anything like mine then she should be fine once she sheds again.
If your worried you can always removed anything that she could rub against from the tank.

Ok thanks. Will keep an eye on them. See what happens when she sheds.

Normally after feeding see just hides. But i guess if they are scuffs she's just got them from mooching around the faun.

Thanks for the response.

EDIT: Anything i should to to prevent this? Or just leave as is?

To me it looks like scuffs.
Most of my snakes after eating seem to rub the side of their jaw/mouth against the sides of their vivs or ornaments.
A couple have had similar looking marks in the past.
