Just had a scary moment with Austin and I'm worried he might be dying.

Some of u might remember a few weeks back he had a problem with a bit of food/substrate stuck in his mouth, since then the swelling has gone down but is still there and he has had it rechecked out twice last time was Thursday and was told he was fine just needed time for swelling to go down. We have left him alone since then but the last few days he has been a lot more active so we took him out tonight to check it out and he just went limp while my wife had him, I jokingly said have u killed him? And she said I think so and passed me him, he was dead as far as I could and just flopped when I picked him up off her leg, he was like this for about a minute and then his tail moved and then the rest of him.
Obviously I was relieved but now very worried, any idea what could of happened?

Sorry to hear about Austin I hope that you are not put off snake keeping. I lost my first corn and it almost put me off keeping them. There was nothing else you could have done.

Hope you doing ok, we lost our first and lovely little snake Clyde but Ernest came to us, a bit too quick for my liking but he has his own character and makes it a bit easier, he has,nt replaced Clyde but he is lovely in his own right.

Glad to hear the shop did the decent thing once again sorry for your loss and i hope at some point in the future to see piccys of a new addition
It absolutely tears my heart out to lose a pet funnily enough its one of the reasons ive stopped keeping small furry critters (and moved over to fish and now a snake..never saw that coming lol) even the smallest most short lived of creatures become companions and a member of the family to me i dont tolerate loss well so i completely understand how you feel best wishes for the future

Thanks again everyone for the kind words.

We did get in touch with the shop and they offered to replace him but it just didn't feel rite yet so we now have credit waiting to be used when we decide what to do.

me too so sorry to hear this sad news

Blessed Be Austin

i realise this may not be the best time to broach the subject and i apologise in advance, but the shop that sold him to you, they obviously knew he had a health problem, and you returned to them for advice several times regarding that same problem......i feel they should either give you your money back or give you another snake. i can understand if that's not a road you want to go down right now though
