Hi, my little sister went to the pet shop a few days ago and I tagged along. I had taken my snake to the vets before but she'd pooed in her box and it was then TOTALLY un-useable lol. So I had to carry her inside while my sister shopped. Having spoken to one of the reptile guys there before, he came and said hello to Lyra.
At some point I mentioned I fed her two medium mice a week, and he said he had a smaller snake that ate twin jumbos! Thinking I was feeding her wrongly, I went and bought four jumbo mice to take home and try her with on her next feed. But looking at some other threads I'm not sure if I'm right to start feeding her these. I was going to start feeding her one jumbo, and one medium (I have about twenty left) if she would take it. I'll post a few pictures, and can you guys reccomend what I feed her? I don't want to overfeed, but I don't want to underfeed either! I handle her quite a lot every day (except two days after feeding) so she gets quite a bit of exercise, nothing else to do with feet healing form surgery :I.Oh and she has an indent like a reverse ridge along her back, as though she is fat and it is overlapping her spine, but this could be the opposite and her spine sticking out!
She is a little under four feet and weighs 494 gramms (just weighed her) One more thing, the guy said she had quite a small head, is this normal?

she's a big girl but I wouldn't say massively overweight, so I would be tempted to try her on one of the jumbos every 2 weeks or go down to one medium a week (thats what all my adults get) |

Aaah. That sounds better than what he was telling me lol. I'm glad about the spine, I read my corn snakey book again and it said one of the signs of an underweight snake was its spine being really prominant. I think I'll keep with the mediums until I run out, then try her with a large. *sigh with relief* thank you! I was really worried I wasn't feeding her correctly D: |

Two jumbos for a corn will meake it soon obese if he's feeding every week/2 weeks. Her head is fine so I would call that guy up on BS. Unless he somehow is getting confused with your corn being a royal somehow like all petshops seem too. That is her spine it's percetly normal to see the spine like that. Even on my Obese corn you can see the spine in some places. I would have swapped the two medium mice with feeding 1 large instead and then maybe after the large if you feel that she needed jumbos, feed jumbos but most corns do not need them, only maybe the monsters do! |

Also, she has an empty gut right now, having pooped twice since last feed. I'm going to feed her either tomorrow or the day after. And, whatever is reccommended, how often should I feed her that? I would normally feed every tuesday/wednesday (depending on how much time I have). |
