Posted - 01/08/2011 : 21:03:02 I figure I'm probably being slightly neurotic over this, but it's my thing and I'm a new owner so I figure I'm allowed until I build some personal experience...
My wife and I are scheduled to work at a festival in a couple of weekends time and this leaves me with a bit of a conundrum about how best to feed our juvi corn. If I set out to feed on a 5-day schedule then he feeds on the Tuesday prior to us leaving on the Thursday evening. If I set out for 7 days between feeds then his feed is the Sunday we're away, returning very early on Monday. (I'll be popping back on the Saturday to attend to other responsibilities, allowing me to change the water)
My logic and my wife's says we should go for the 7 days and subsequently go for 8 days without food so as to lower the risk of the snake living in his mess for any length of time.
Are we right in this or should we do something differently?
(Previous experience; He ate on the Saturday before we purchased him and I found droppings on the Tuesday) |

Posted - 01/08/2011 : 22:07:01 Sankes couldn't give a monkey's about schedules, they are opportunistic feeders, if there is food there they'll eat it, if not it doesn't cross their mind. Don't worry about keeping them to a schedule, thats for our benefit not the snake's. You are entitled to worry but you soon realise that they are tough little things, and are built in such a way that is incredible, like if they dont have any food in their digestive tract, it shuts down to save energy, so where we would run around with our bellies rumbling away they just save energy. |
