I missed chillis shed by seconds i was gutted! I looked in her viv on the way to the kitchen and she was just sitting looking at me, i made a cup of tea and looked in again on my way back to the living room and she was completely shed and just her tail tip coming out the last inch and had left her shed weaved all around her logs through her whole viv, took me ages to unravel it all!

Can't wait for when I get my snake to see its first shed!!!

My big girl chilli eats fine when in blue, i think once my snow goes blue that he will be one to go off his food as he isnt as keen as chilli on eating! They really are all so different, my 2 couldnt be more different in their characters at all! Chilli took about 8 days to shed after her eyes and everything cleared up but done the actual deed in 5 minutes flat. Just remember to full check the shed when it happens to make sure it is all there, eyecaps and tailtip cos when i got my charlie he had quite a lot of retained shed built up on histailtip that took me ages to get off and has left a little ridge in his tail.

Some people will feed their snakes whilst in blue. Others dont. A couple of mine eat in bue a couple refuse.

OK so he hasnt shed yet then? Is there anything i should be doing? do i still feed as normal? can i still handle him?
Mort13 Posted - 01/08/2011 : 19:57:38
Its completely normal after they've been in blue (the cloudy eyed, dull phase) to clear up and look normal before the actual shed. Just keep an eye out for him looking really active over the next few days and you may be lucky enough to witness him shedding

His eyes will go back to normal colour after the blue... the shed will come soon xx
Simmy_82 Posted - 01/08/2011 : 19:17:13
You should be able to find the shed. Tho I've read it could take a week or to for it to shed after it's gone blue.

Ok so he went dull looking, then as expected his eyes frosted and went blue, then? Back to his normal gloss! I expected it to take a few days and be able to see the skin come off, but nothing and nothing in his viv! Just all shinny again? He's only a few months old but is glossy as normal again.

Should I be able to find his shed?

You'll do best to just leave him be (except to change water & spot clean) until after the shed - he is going to be a fair bit more stressed than usual, and will have impared vision whilst in "blue". Somewhere between 2 - 4 days after the dullness goes he is going to be hunting around rubbing his nose on stuff...keep watching if you manage to catch it ;-)

I've had Sydney for a month now, he was 5-6wks when i got him. Just noticed today he is very dull and he's not interested in feeding so think he's gonna be lovely and shiney soon!
