Right, I am unsure if my snake had started to shed or not. It seems that he started shedding then it broke as in the middle of his head, it looks like dry flaky skin. What I am not sure about is that IF this is a shed, will he be able to remove it?
I know pics would be useful, but he has just eaten, and it was after he ate and sliding back into his viv that I noticed his head.
I am worried that if it is a partial shed, and I need to help him to shed, how to go about it as he has yet to be handled by me. |

I don't know if it actually makes and difference but last time Ammy shed I put the humid hide on the cool side. He kept coming out a lot to warm up and he had a bad shed so this time I tried putting the humid hide on the warm side (on top of his cave, not directly on the heat mat) and he spent all of his time in it and he had a perfect shed. I dont see why your snake wouldn't be able to start the shed of again by himself as long as he has something he can rub on. Before I assisted Ammy he had got most of the shed off by himself over a couple of days and I only had to help him with a little bit of retained shed on the top of his head and slightly along his back. |

He does have a humid hide and a large enough bowl of water he can soak in, both in the cool end. He does look a little bit dull now compared to when I got him, but I didn't notice him go into blue.
Upon looking again, the top of his head does seem more brighter than the rest of his head. I am just concerned that if he is shedding, he wont be able to start it off again. I will see how it goes and decide what, if anything, needs doing on wednesday.
Off to hunt now to find pictures of what a "bad" shed looks like. |

You'll just have to wait 48 hours now to allow time to digest.
Was the snake due to shed, has it gone blue and then cleared? I would say if its broke at the head then the snake will have no problems getting it started again. |

If he hasn't got the shed off completly you could try letting him slither through a damp towel, flanel or kitchen roll. It worked for mine. Does he have a humidity hide?
