Hi again people.
Another problem has arisen and this is since Choppers last shed the very tip of his tail has started to go from a pink,to a brown and now turning dark brown.
I have read that this maybe due to a retained tail tip from his last shed and the lack of blood flow,in which case it will die and fall off!!!!
is this something that happens to a lot of snakes?
Will chopper need treatment if it does come off??

Thanks

sorry, i'm not saying you've deliberately neglected him...........it still might be salvagable though just try what you can and try not to worry

I have bathed him on many occasion, thats how i managed to remove the retained piece of skin from his prior shed,He was bathed and i let him wriggle through a towel this is how the skin came off.
I look after chopper as well as anybody else i just think that because he is my first snake and that i wasnt 100% sure about what to look for i missed the retained tail skin.
He will be monitored closely over the next couple of months,I f i have any problems ill consult a vet.
Thanks for the info.

it only happens to snakes who don't shed well and the retained tail tip is missed by their owner/carer

i would add 2 damp hides to his enclosure, removing his usual ones, after 3 days or so try bathing him and gently rubbing the retained shed off his tail.

if it does go properly black and dead it will usually come off in a few sheds. the remaining stump may be sore and bleed, it might mean a change of substrate, careful monitoring, over the counter medicine, a vet consult, antibiotics........but i'd try not to worry about that just yet!
