One spray bottle and pair of rubber gloves coming up
mikerichards Posted - 14/03/2011 : 08:25:52
the mites will eventually die off if there is nothing left to feed on, the life cycle is about 60 days. personally i would treat the viv, but its up to you.
Kat Posted - 13/03/2011 : 22:16:04
Just to check, do mites die off if the vivs are left empty? My viv has been empty since before Christmas as we got new snakey today. I dumped everything except the viv. I bought a new faun for new snakey but was wondering if I'm OK to use the old viv again since it's been empty for 3 months? I do have some frontline kicking around the place so I could use that just to be on the safe side, but if I don't have to I'll save my money and use it on the dogs instead

Oh dear, sorry to hear that.
mikerichards Posted - 13/03/2011 : 14:30:12
So far not as i hoped. One of the racks seems to still have active frontline on it, despite not being sprayed since last summer, so all the mites from that tub died on their way to lunch.
annoyingly, its not killing the snake mites, i am getting a little fed up with all this messing around and not getting anywhere.
Its gonna drastic measures soon.

Just wondered how things are going with these?
mikerichards Posted - 03/03/2011 : 15:09:20
i have used callingtons too, and provent a mite, frontline, and some other stuff too.
i spent 30 quid on callingtons, 4 bottles of frontline at 20 quid each, one double size frontline at 35 quid, two tins of provent a mite at 20 quid each.
hopefully these mites will do the job now.
oh, i have used oramec too, which is a sheep wormer, but diluted is used for treating mites.

Yep a33 i've used it, and very good, no mites since 'touch wood'
mikerichards Posted - 03/03/2011 : 02:36:54
once they are done they die. they are purely predatory mites, so no food, no life.
Stotty, i have gone through £100's on sprays, quite literally, no success. gotta try none invasive now.
Katie.Dublin Posted - 02/03/2011 : 22:34:47
Good look with that! What are you meant to do with them when they do their job? Just spray them or something?

no but heard very good reviews on it :)

mike have you tried the frontline treatment method or beaphur spray? after one treatment there off
mikerichards Posted - 01/03/2011 : 22:39:53
i have tried many many sprays, i have emptied the room and sprayed the carpet, it didnt work.
i need something thats not too invasive on the other snakes, because i cant get them all out and leave their enclsures in there. bearing in mind its 50 odd snakes i need to treat, and all their tubs and vivs.

I have heard good things about them so good luck with your new critters, and lets hope they kick the other evil ***** (blighters) into submission.
