I noticed on Sunday while feeding Spot that he has a very small wound on his nose. I waited a few days for digestion and he's back out on the prowl today so I checked him out. Its nothing more than a slightly lifted edge of a scale. I have gone through every single item in his vivarium running my hand over everything to see if I could find any sharp or rough bits and found nothing. I just wondered if this is common for them to damage their scales and when he sheds will it repair the damage? Also he is due to shed fairly soon, could this just be the first signs of a bad shed? |

blake did this once a few yrs back and had a small gaze to his head, you will probably be shocked by this but i put a teeny dab of sudocream on it every now and then ( was kind of funny to see him slithering about with a tiny white blob on his snout) he didnt even notice he had it on, but a shed or 2 later he completely healed |

I notice that when Tiko had a big head rubbing/trying to escape session he had a little red bit on his "nose", I left him over night and it cleared up. I guess when you haven't got hands you have to explore with your head! |

Not overly worried, there are rough bits in there with the drift wood etc, suppose they would need a bit a rough to help them shed. I was just making sure there wasn't any really sharp edges or spikes. There wasn't, its just a tiny random injury without explanation. He'll live! |

i wouldn't be too worried about rough bits in the viv either, they are tough cookies :) |

Oh good, cant be having a tatty looking snake now. Suppose leading with your head does have its disadvantages. Cheers for quick answer. |

nope its not the signs of a bad shed, corns will nose about anything so nothing really to worry about its quite common.
And yes it should repair itself after shedding. |
