i woke up this morning and monty was warapped around his bulb guard just to be safe i carefully took him off and i noticed he has got some burn marks

he seems fine with it i touched them and he didn't hiss or flinch and is slithering up and down his tank happily

nothing major or life threatening by i still want to clean it up. what can i use to clean it up???

i cant get to the rep shop til saturday could i use the alcoholic hand gel? antiseptic wipes? will post some pictures later

i thought you just treat burns like any other snake

it isnt to bad but i just want him to be all ok :) he is crawling around quite happily at the moment :) and i guess today was my first handle apart from putting him in the tank xD

sorry didnt put snake name to your royal, am curios why you haven't asked this question on TRP as you are a member over there and these people keep royals and will be able to give you more assistance. than just the few royal keepers here.

this link gives info on minor snake burn http://www.theroyalpython.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1233

Also you may be able to use other reptile antiseptics other than Betadine.

dont use any of the things you have suggested, snakes dont feel pain like we do so that is why he stayed there and got burnt and didnt flinch when you touched it,best thing i can suggest is to clean the viv out and put paper down which should be cleaned daily, its hard to tell how deep a burn goes. And you will need to get a bigger guard. Are the wounds open?
