I think Tiko is due to shed soon, it has been over 4 weeks now since his last (and first with us)and he is rubbing his head on anything and everything. I haven't seen him go into blue but as he is part Amel then I believe its hard to tell. He is so much more active and has been doing laps around his viv and when I got up at 6.30 he was active already(or still active)which is very unusual for him.
Just a question - Do I let him get on with it by himself before I add moss or should I put some in to raise humidity anyway? Didn't want to add uncessarily.
Thanks in advance - I am away for 4 days at the weekend and so whats the betting he saves it for the second I leave? |

It can be difficult to tell with an amel although I know with my Sidney straight away. His colour dulls and he looks a bit 'girlie' in pink! Their eyes do go cloudy but it's not as easy to see as with normal coloured eyes.
Like gmac said if he shed without any problems before you shouildn't need to worry about doing anything. It's just a matter of personal choice. Some people like to feel they are 'helping' to prevent shedding problems by putting the water in the warm side and maybe adding a moist hide. It's really up to you.  |

Personally I would leave him alone without any help, corns generally dont need any assistance shedding and as its his first shed with you I would let him shed without intervention. Just make sure when he does shed that the eyecaps and tail tip have shed.
