I have a baby corn snake; Fluffy and she has been feeding fine the whole time I have had her (except once when she was coming up to a shed and I didnt notice her eyes). Well she has just suddenly stopped feeding. She has now ferused to eat for three weeks and I am completely at a loss. She looks over the pinky and "tastes" it but will not eat it.
I have wriggled them, but she gets scared  brained them, warmed them, her temps are normal, shes not sheddding. I have no idea what to do. Also I am concerned as to how long a baby can go without a feed... |

I feed her in a tub which has no bedding inside it at all. There is a chance the pinky may have been a little big for her, she is a very small snake. She has never struggled with the pinky except with her breeder, her first feed she regurgitated as it was too big so next feed he gave her just a head and ever sonce she has been on whole pinkies. I have not changed the size but the pack I had had a difference in sizes of each pinky (not much) and maybe I just picked out one that was a little bit too large. I will try putting her in the warm water see if that helps. thanks all btw xx |

im aveing the same problem at the min, n i heard chick thighs is another good thing to try but ive not tryed it myself, and rubbing a pinkie in chicken guts |

Perhaps inpaction or constipation? Do you feed her in the viv/faun or out of it? If she has taken in some aspen or bark with the food, it may have resulted in some impaction. Perhaps try putting her in a bath/sink of room temp water and letting her swim about to try and shift it? I've heard (and seen in Beardies) that is works well. If it is constipation, perhaps the mice are a little too big, and are causing her to go off food cos she doesn't feel like she's yet finished digesting her last one? Have you recently changed the size, or does she seem to struggle at all? |

i had a few hatchies last year that didn't eat for 3 months, it's not ideal though and the body condition of the snake should be your guide as to when to worry. corns should be 'loaf of bread' shape if you imagine a cross section, i wouldn't be overly worried till they go 'toblerone' shape  |

I have only been feeding her once a week. It just so happened that that was feeding day :p
The only thing that had changed is her box was moved from the bottom to middle on the shelf. I tried tuna oil and I left the pinky, she didnt eat it :( She showed a lot of interest in it (when I saw) but still no go.
I did also remove one plant from her tub to fix (the base came off) which she liked climbing on. I have put her back on the bottom and given her her plant.
I was mainly concerned how long she can go as a lot of info seems to conflict |

don't try feeding too often as that can stress the snake and make it more reluctant to eat, once a week is fine. you've got a lot of time to play with, months rather than weeks
has anything changed to trigger the lack of appetite? upgrade of viv? change of location? |

They can go without for a long time, much longer than three weeks, so firstly try not to worry.
Have you tried leaving the pinky with her overnight? You could also try putting a bit of tuna oil on the pinky, for some reason a lot of snakes seem to like it. There are other things to try as well but give those a go first....  |
