I've had Elmo a few days and I think he's shedding he's an amel and he's gone dull so i've bought some moss

Do I have to do anything to it, will there be bugs and stuff in it?
Oh and how long do I leave it in there I only noticed him dulling today can I put it in tomorrow or is there a specific time to do it.

As this is Elmo's first shed with you then it might be an idea to leave him be and hopefully he will shed fine....unless you know that he has a history of problem shedding.
If you want to help him out you can add an extra water bowl if he is in a viv (this doesnt work in a faun as there is too much ventilation). Dont just move the original water bowl as he will not want to be drinking warm water.
All I do is mist my snakes' vivs once a day in the morning, nothing more than that as you dont want to cause the humidity to rise too much as this can cause respiratory infections.
As he is an amel I know it is hard to tell, but if you can once his eyes have cleared you can add a damp hide which will also help. In a wooden viv you can put the moss in the warm hide but in a faunarium you would need to put it in both hides to help him loosen his skin. Obviously you can either add in a specific new hide with moss in it (http://www.thecornsnake.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=3699) or you can add moss to his usual hides.

i just put mine is luke warm water, squeese it then put it in a tub for my snake to go in and out. i put it 50/50 on the heat mat too. |

I tend to freeze mine and pour boiling hot water over it to defrost, then I let it cool for a bit and squeeze all the excess water out so it's damp and then stick it in a hide. |
