Saw this for sale on a site yesterday - 'Very rare snake - £250'

Hmmm, Ruby Freckled Snow, that sounds amazing, never heard of that before - must be something pretty special for that money - opened the add and this is what I saw:

Someone trying to cash in on a weird looking snow methinks? Or is there any kind of disease that could make it look like that? Maybe I'm being thick and that is an actual morph - I'm sure she's a lovely snake but it doesn't look like any kind of morph I've seen - or would pay £250 for! What do you guys reckon??

it looks like it has chunks too kout of it ( being the red bits)
eeji Posted - 06/08/2009 : 18:59:46
they're born with the odd speckling ;)

this is the same sort of thing, a 'paradox snow' that has patches of black, which again should be genetically impossible: http://iansvivarium.com/morphguide/paradoxsnow.php

it is a strain of snow we sorted that out ages ago lol

To quote a herp website.....

Ruby Freckled
It is not known what this is genetically. Starts life as a more or less normal Snow cornsnake, but develops patches of intense red speckling. A number of these snakes have been produced, but it's heritability is still in question.

Hmm.. it just looks like an ordinary snow to me, that someones either painted (sounds a bit loopy but to make cash you never know) or it has a snake disease.

I won't be buying. In my eyes it looks quite ugly, rare and expensive or not.

good look with that

**edit** .....or you could buy my hatchling normals for £300! ;)

Wow - they are gorgeous! Could never afford one though! lol

£300?? For a normal hatchling?? That's a steal! Put me down for two

Ah, now the price makes a lot more sense! I think it's the most expensive corn I've ever seen!

looks like it has skin dicease to me but ell has sed it its known as the piebald effect. just read about it in my NEW corn book its just a mutation of the red pigments
HannahB Posted - 15/07/2009 : 14:19:00
im kinda fascinated by it tbh...
gotta admit that i did think my lappy screen had some random red blotches suddenly appear on it lol
wouldnt pay that for it tho..

Its called the "piebald effect" if you want to look it up.

Oh, ok, interesting, thanks! I've gotta agree though - looks like a skin problem
Tizzy Posted - 14/07/2009 : 09:11:39
looks like it has love bites to me, not floating my boat at all.

it will be that price because it has not been proven yet

Me either sexybear - sounds bad but just looks like a breeding experiment gone wrong to me, just wondered if there was something I didn't know and it was actually worth £250 :S
