Posted - 13/08/2013 : 09:26:45 No need for apologies the pics.and link were really just to show similar snakey's-there is much chatter online about the origins of some of the 'super mutant'genes that are now cropping up in corns. Tessy's are more than just a pattern change it seems. all that aside,I believe that as long as you LIKE the snakes-sorry-Lve the snakes you keep, then you have the recipe for both happy snakes and happy humans Sarum reminded me of Georgey boy-so pet ...I guess its always good to know WHAT you have...mind you I've got a 'Sunny' and a 'Nigel'.. |

Posted - 13/08/2013 : 07:07:14 Ah sorry mj I misunderstood your post - I thought you were using those as examples of corns, not non-corns! As to Sarum I wasn't ignoring him, I just don't know what to say He does have highly unusual colouring. It would probably be easier just to 'call' him a ghost and not breed from him so as not to cause further confusion, but I don't know if you were hoping to breed from him in future?
I totally understand your wanting to know exactly what he is, sorry I cannot help! Where IS eeji when you need him? |

Posted - 12/08/2013 : 19:18:48 He He-top pic is striped Leopard snake I think this is a European species BUT there are soooo very many kings/rat snake that have Tessy type markings, just couldn't find 'public domain'pics.of them all. Found this earlier; http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=127993&page=13
much above my small tiny brain-but thought interesting enough to share- anyway we still need to sort Sarum? Ghosty? |

Posted - 12/08/2013 : 19:01:24 Um sorry to disappoint you mj, but that second photo isn't a tessera at all, it's a jungle corn, a corn king hybrid which I recognise from previous posts lol! I don't recognise the top pic, but I have to say it doesn look suspiciously un-corn like as well, but it could be a pure tessera corn for all I know. |

Posted - 11/08/2013 : 14:30:54 Very interesting
Do you know if he's a pure corn or a hybrid? His pattern doesn't really look full corn to me... I'm not very good at hybrids but he does have a bit of a Rootbeer look about him?
I wonder if he could be a masque as his belly checkers are slightly split but it isn't a normal pattern even with the gap in the middle.
*shrugs* Stumped. I'll wait until someone with more experience comes along |
