I really am sorry about so many morph questions from me but this is for my partner.

She got sold this female corn snake as a Caramel. We then asked a few snake breeders and apparently she's an Amber. Just looked at Ians Vivarium and she hasn't got the right eye colour to be an Amber... Her eyes are a caramel brown colour, not a speckled greyish.

Sorry this isn't the best picture she's quite active so it's the only one I've got that shows her in some form of detail.
She's about 4ft long.

Thanks and once again sorry for all the morph questions.

Apparently she's had him checked out and he's looking good, she's just got to keep an eye on him. She's been told to rush him down for proper tests if he doesn't eat for 2-3 weeks.

Oh no, so sorry to read this :( Hope the male is OK.
AcidicAngel Posted - 29/06/2012 : 20:43:18
We both hope the male is OK. She bought him as a 'Defo female. Has been popped so we know she is female' Well when we had him probed it probed 6 scales twice.
My male butter probed 10 scales twice, my female hypo probed 3 1/2 scales twice.

That's such a shame, poor girl

I'm so sorry. I hope your male will be ok.

sorry to hear that, hope the other one is o.k

Lethaia(The snake in question) died last night. The specialists think she may have had Internal Parasites which means that my partner needs to get the male checked out ASAP. So because of this, she's only keeping the male and no others.

Sorry, I must have missed that bit. Hope your partner gets her eating soon and she is OK :)
AcidicAngel Posted - 27/06/2012 : 13:15:17
My partner is getting rid of the male as she wanted a female and it was sold as a defo female. She stopped eating before my partner got her.
smart bunny Posted - 27/06/2012 : 10:43:05
If she's been put in a viv with a male and has stopped eating, she needs to be separated from the male. Some snakes cohab quite happily, others get stressed by it, so I would say 1st thing to do is separate them and go from there. If she starts eating again, stop the cohabbing (if she doesn't then it wasn't necessarily that...)

Normal?

She's a yellowy amber colour... Also her belly checkers aren't them same, I'll try getting a picture ASAP but it depends on when I next go over.

There's a whole variety of colours that are still classed as normal.. no two snakes of the same morph are a like.

But I think you'll need more pictures for us to give a proper answer.
From that one picture id say caramel.

I'll try and get one when she get's back from the specialists that are trying to get her to eat :)

Thanks Everyone, I'll try getting a better pic if needed but if not then we'll settle with Caramel.
kev 5 Posted - 25/06/2012 : 08:34:56
looks caramel to me
AcidicAngel Posted - 25/06/2012 : 01:34:51
Looking at her eyes they're the same as Caramel as her's are a golden-browny-caramel colour whereas Amber's have a greyish colour...
Dancross0 Posted - 24/06/2012 : 22:21:12
She is either a very light caramel or an amber, which is caramel and hypo.

I'm going with amber. Looking through the pics on Ians Viv, a lot of the ambers have the same colouring and eye shade as this.

She wasn't with a male before my partner got her and she shed before my partner got her.
Plus the shed was 8 weeks ago... Se went off her food just before she shed whilst still in the shop, in the shop she was alone and since has never come back on her food. Even before my partner got the male, which was sold as a defo female, we only found out about3-4 weeks a go...
Spreebok Posted - 24/06/2012 : 22:10:12
That could indeed be a pre-lay shed, the signs are certainly there. Kept with a male, shed and has gone of her food.
AcidicAngel Posted - 24/06/2012 : 16:26:42
That's the thing, like I say she's not eaten since before my Partner got her. My partner got her 7 weeks a go and she hadn't eaten for a week before that but we put that down to the fact that she was shedding...
Spreebok Posted - 24/06/2012 : 16:21:50
Certainly not normal, it's hard to tell from the photo, but she looks like a caramel on the paler end of the scale to me.

Also, not eating could be sign of her being gravid. If she's been kept with a male, it's very likely.
