Pied-sided-ness is probably a form of true albinism (in snakes I guess it would be both black and red albinism at the same time affecting small patches on the sides made more easily produced by adding diffusion into the mix), sometimes referred to in other species as partial albinism. You see it a lot in animals in the wild that breed quickly and over a short period of time; ducks you see it in a lot, pigeons as well. I guess it is somewhat genetic, being a mutation of the pigment genes and through selective breeding more and more animals would be born with it, but it can be hard to get the appearance of it to show phenotypically (actually on the skin, rather then just in the genes). I guess it will become more prevalent as breeders start to think that there is a very strong market for pied-sided snakes, but I reckon its still a bit of a hit and miss situation, as some may not take any of the genes, others only in their genes and only a few would be actually visibly pied. Its an odd science, and I think that's about right, but again, albinism is a real weird one genetically being based on rare mutations, and snakes with their two types of albinism makes it even more confusing XD Someone is bound to be able to put me right there though, and give a better description of it then me. That's just a general overview of it as I've hopefully remembered from my genetics classes at college x.x The OCD of genetics really appeals to my ordered mind XD

Blizzard = anery and charcoal
anery pewter = diffused, charcoal and anery
golddust = ultramel and caramel

Pied im not sure about. but pied isnt a gene as far as Im aware in cornsnakes.

so if i bred medusa a anery and a charcoal diffused i would get a anery pewter? as it says i wont on corn calc

nope both parents must have the anery pewter genes, from that you would get normal het anery diffused charcoals

Pied sided is thought to be linked to diffused as its not been produced independently of it as yet.
