Hi Sarah, Lovely snake with really nice saddles! Dont think he is motley thought! Easiest way to check is if he has a clear belly with no belly checks?

I say caramel cornsnake too.

Regards breeding rat snakes and corn snakes, Corn snakes are Actually Red Rat Snakes and breed with other rat snakes fine.

So when people cross a Red Rat Snake with a Grey rat snake for example, you now have a hybrid, it is no longer a pure red rat snake or corn snake as they are commonly know .

u think ? i just wanted to know what he is after been told that they didnt know what morph he is and about havin rat snake in him tbh i didnt even know you could breed rat and corns togther i have been offering him mice i know he hasnt eaten in the 2 weeks that i have had him and maybe at least 2 weeks before i got him cause i went up everyday to handle him and there wasnt a day a couldnt handle him due to being fed i am hoping that cause he shed on 9/9/10 at the shop and again on 5/10/10 at my house , that will be the reason he is not feeding his shed since he has been home with me was alot better than the one he had at the shop , i have tried everything ( i think ) when i wiggling it right infront of him he tastes it and turns away :( i will feel much better about him being settled in properly once he has eaten !

gingerpony Posted - 08/10/2010 : 23:06:53
if he was part ratsnake he probably wouldn't have a 'spear shaped' head marking, but on your pics above i can make anything out lol

there is only a few hets that show up, otherwise it is almost impossible to tell.

From your pics the head does look very rat like, if possible can you get a decent head shot.

how do u tell if he is a het ??? someone said to me its to do with the markings on his head but i aint sure if thats right , he is sooo lovely he doesnt mind being handled while in shed cause i had him out my mate held him for a bit we put him back and the next day he had shed he has a 3ft by 1.5ft deep and 1.5ft high viv it came as a kit but the heat mat was no where near powerful enough to heat it up so i brought a bigger one and that still wasnt enough ( my flat aint that warm lol ) so i got a light which keeps it at the perfect temp and when i turn the light off at night the heat mat keeps the temp up , he still hasnt taken food tho :( any tips ????? i am quite glad he is caramel the shop thought he was part rat snake x
