i have 2 amels (the mum and dad of my babies)
smithy is more orange and nessa is a lot lighter. how is this? are they het for something else or is this natural? my chat with tom got me thinking. anery's etc don't vary a great deal, normals due to a certain extent probably due to hets?

The yellow is nothing to do with anery or albino, its something else, hence the charcoal being type 2 anery. Aneries do vary, but only in how much black they show, grey is afterall just faded black, brown shouldn't be there as that is made up of red, red and black I think, not positive on that tho.
As I said, a corn has more red, and brown than it does black, so it stands to reason that it would vary more with the extremeness of the albinism.
Any trait in the corns colour make up can be selective bred, you can breed for more yellow or less yellow, more red or less.
You can do the same with aneries, but you are playing with the same colour, black, the yellow is a separate trait. |

sorry nothing against anery's and normals, i love mine to bits its the dramatic difference between my amels and some amels in general which is what i was getting at. its probably the whites that bring it out. i know there are contrasts and differences between all morphs i was just curious about poss hidden hets or just selective breeding in mine. |

p.s. amels vary hugely in the amount of white they show, ranging from sunglows with none at all right up to candycanes that have pure white ground colour. The colours vary lots too, from pale orange right up to bright red :) |

Aneries do vary just like any morph but they vary a lot less than amels. An Amels colours and brightness can vary very dramatically from one to another. |

I disagree, anerys do vary a lot. Some have a lot of yellow on them which makes them look like caramel anerys when geneticly they are just normal anerys. Some are light and almost ghost looking, some are very brown and some are very black and grey. Normals vary a great deal to, infact, a lot of morphs can vary a lot however, there will also be key markers for each morph. |

Aneries dont vary much because there is only so much that is already black on the snake, it doesnt make non black bits black, it only wipes out the other colours!
Amels vary so much because there is so much of the snake that is red, so the level of reduction can vary a great deal, also, because albinism is so varied anyway, and unpredictable, if you get a rogue 'really white' amel and breed to another 'really white' amel, then you are going to accentuate those features, selective breeding. Someone wanted to acheive that result, and its showing up all over the place because so many snakes have been bred, the white ness is popping up more and more. |

I know wot you mean!!! my amel hardly has any white on her at the mo just oranges and reds (apart from her belly) a friend of mine who keeps boas thought she was a flourecent orange when i first got her! |
