Posted - 20/01/2015 : 00:09:02 I know this is the "other reptiles" section but I thought it would be nice to share the small rescue story from tonight
My friend messaged me at about 7:30pm asking if I could collect her fish because her mum had cracked the tank. Baring in mind I don't drive and no-one she knew was available so I had to get a bus across town to her. I got the bus at about 8:15pm and arrived at her's about 9:30pm. I took one look at the fish and said "This could be fun..."... I got the bus back home about 10pm, got home about 11pm and got everyone set up.
Total list of fish:- 1x Male Betta. 2x Female Guppies. 1x Black Widow Tetra. 1x Zebra Danio. 1x Pearl Danio.
The Pearl Danio has a lot of problems with his back but these fish have a fair bit of history. The Black Widow is 10 years old, both Danio's are about 3 and..... The female guppy with the spotty tail? Was bred by me in 2009/2010 so is about 5/6 years old and has come back to me lol. The Betta was bought 7 months a go and the other female guppy is shop bought and is about 2 years old.
Some of these fish are dear to my friend so I'll be keeping them for her sake, the Black Widow especially though at 10 years old I don't expect he'll be here much longer anyway. The Pearl Danio may need putting to sleep because of his back problems, it causes him swimming issue's which look painful. The Zebra Danio I will be re-homing as I cannot provide for it properly. The female guppies will be moving into my 2ft tank when I'm sure they are clear of all diseases and the male betta will stay in this tank. |

Unfortunately the Pearl Danio with the bad back became paralysed early tonight and I had to put him to sleep...
The rest of the fish are OK though |
