Posted - 02/09/2013 : 16:23:35 John was loverly enough to buy me some decor today :D so i got to start some decorating! :D I've still got some things to arrive in the mail, ground plants (may not fit in at the moment but when cleaning day comes im going to switch stuff around :) ) and some magnetic ledges.
But i think i may get my crestie sooner than i thought :D
Even before everything was put in my humidity stays at 65 - 70% so may not have to spray down often at all :) But my temps are cold so may keep on my heating source :)
Any thoughts, opinions or even changes you feel to be needed are welcome :)

Posted - 02/09/2013 : 18:58:16 85 is just fine, i only spray once a day, about 8.30 as that is usually when she will come out, although they are meant to be nocturnal, she does come out through the day sometimes, but i know if she needs a drink, she will use the bowl. and it depends on the weather, the humidity will go up and down. I'd say its far more the heat than humitity you need to worry about, between 20 - 29, any lower is not a concern if not for long, but hotter id say is bad |

Posted - 02/09/2013 : 18:39:19 I think i am going to have issues with humidity... Just lightly sprayed the enclosure and its risen to 85%. Is this percentage of humidity going to be stressful for the crestie? Other than removing the bark is there anything else to help keep it at a manageable level? I still need to spray to let the gecko drink... |

Posted - 02/09/2013 : 17:55:57 No no, i'll spray lightly, but not as often as i thought id need as so many folk i know have to spray heavily 2 x a day.
Interesting gymnastic lizards :L |

It wqas just since you said you might not spray since humidity was fine
I only really had the water bowl in at first just to help with humidity, was really pleased to see her drinking from it, even if it was upside down....?!? |

Posted - 02/09/2013 : 17:48:57 wow looks fantastic. Just one thing, some dont drink from a bowl and will only drink from the spraying. Fudge does both, but i have seen her drink more from the spraying Sooooo looking forward to pics |

Posted - 02/09/2013 : 17:31:21 moppet - im using a very thing layer of orchid bark, mostly for aesthetics just now and to see how the humidity goes with it. As i said before its averaging 70% without anything else added. so if with the bark it gets to high im going to remove it and use paper towels.
heeriotfan yeah im going to be wary of the background as ive heard some iffy stories. It's actually upside down just now because i could fit the sensor in the other way round! |

Posted - 02/09/2013 : 17:13:04 Looking good. The more things they have to climb up and hide in the better. A lot of people suggest kitchen roll as substrate when they are young so you can see that they are toileting as they should. Any feeder insects can't hide in kitchen roll very well. It's also much easier to replace when dirty. You may find that a little one will find it's way through the wires gap and down behind the background, one of mine did, cheeky little monkey!! You'll love having a crestie.....awesome creatures |

Posted - 02/09/2013 : 16:59:49 Looking good so far But I'm still very new to it all myself. What is the substrate you're using? Most of my research has said that paper towels are best for younger geckos. |
