Well, Vambo has only had 5 or 6 large mice since christmas. He kept turning his nose up and ignoring them. I decided that it was time for a weight check so hoiked him into a pillowcase and balanced him on the kitchen scales. I was pleasantly surprised that he showed about 1600 gms. He had only lost about 150 gms in all that time.

He shed cleanly a couple of weeks ago so decided it might be time to try a rat. I gave it a blast with the hair drier (it still has it's uses) to increase the chances and get his juices going. Put it into the feeding tub then poured 1x Vambo into the mix and was just sliding the lid closed ... only one inch to clip down ... Dum-da-dum-dum-daaah!

The juices must have gone into turbo drive. The lid went flying and he shot out like Usain Bolt from the starting blocks, snared me by the middle finger and whipped around my wrist.

As always, the camera is always kept handy for you lot. Enjoy and appreciate.

Thank-you thank-you, a rat for me! Let me give you a big kiss of gratitude.

You are welcome Vambo but that wasn't really necessary.

When that tail gets anchored it usually means an epic wrestling match and can take up to half an hour to un-fankle. Sooo ... the meths bottle is always kept beside the camera. Wee dab onto the affected area (when I finally found it) and he spat me out and released the wrist.

Wrangled him back into the tub and rinsed off the lipstick. After 2 bum first attempts he remembered how it should go and it was down and gone in jig time. I'm a Happy Chappy!

Poor you! Here's hoping your 'hairy man arms'soon recover from their unwanted squeezing
It wasn't your 'essential.57l liquid refreshment administering' arm was it? That would be a cruel, debilitating blow indeed

Yep! Donnie. I'm a miserable auld git through and through. Och! Aye!

Only 2x Corns, Mirkey and Fester to get back on form now.

'Wee" Woody gave me the dirtiest look when I skipped his feeding for 1 day. I had to defrost one for him specially.

Moppet. Shows commitment or do you mean should be committed??

Herriotfan. Pain soon fades but a defrosted rat is a waste of money.

SBB & lupi. The bite is a bit nippy at the time and eases of when released. Depending on how hard he hits, there is sometimes a bit of bruising. Biggest pain in the bum is the crick in my back after scrubbing the carpet. Another couple of clean splotches added to the collection. I'll soon have it looking as good as new. The squeeze is no worse than a blood pressure sleeve being slightly over pumped and cutting off the circulation.

SB. Just a bit over-enthusiastic and got carried away with the feeding response.

I love that you manage to get photos of him in the act every time. It shows commitment

I'm glad he ate for you, that's some feeding response.

Was the joy of him eating worth the pain of the nibble??!!!
scottishbluebird Posted - 31/05/2013 : 15:47:37
Despite all the blood, i would GUESS (never been bitten) that the squeezing would be worse?
You should bottle your blood, make a fortune for those snakes that stopped eating!

ouch! glad he ate the rat :-)
out of curiosity which hurts more the actual bite or the grip he gets on your wrist?

Soooo glad he ate... but wasn't he supposed to eat the rat rather than you? :P
