Posted - 04/03/2013 : 02:42:57 So, feeding day had a few interesting moments today.
Fester the MBK decided that it was time for his first large mouse since before christmas. He's only had 1 small mouse since the end of October. Let's hope that he's over the futile dreams of passion stage.
Little Diablo Diego didn't need asked twice if his rat pup was to his satisfaction. Struck and demolished it like a pro. He even gave a little tail rattle of appreciation.
Up next ... Cue the CSI theme tune and get the coffee ready SBB.
This episode contains scenes of wanton violence, pain and blood. So you lot of ghouls will be very happy.
The crime scene. Initial tests indicate that the blood is probably human. Directionality and trail indicates a sudden, unexpected assault. Evidence also points to a definite lead for the perpetrator.
The victim may be able to describe the assailant ... once he stops shouting rude words.
The prime suspect. Claims it was a mistake due to being hungry and had nothing to eat since before christmas.
Hope you wet yourself this time SBB. Any suggestions for getting B Rhesus Positive out of the living room carpet would be appreciated. |

Well the bite scars, blood and gore will always be there for a while. Although it is rather unlikely, the action shot of the bite could be over in a flash. Knowing how you gorefest addicts would be disappointed I am dedicated to suffering for your entertainment .... plus I delight in scaring the poop out of the lot of you. Muahahahaha! |

Posted - 04/03/2013 : 21:28:52 Ouchy. Apparently all he needed was a bit of a chomp on a finger as an appetiser haha.
Glad they're eating again, good news |

Posted - 04/03/2013 : 20:37:32 @ Scaly. Imagine sticking your finger into one of these desk-top pencil sharpeners and birling the handle. Well it's not as bad that but you will be surprised.
OK guys, I've had my fun.
To be honest it is a lot more dramatic than it looks. Still, he did surprise me and get my attention rather promptly. The story is that he's not eaten since before christmas and was starting to look kinda lean. He might be heading for a shed as well as he's spending a lot of time soaking over the past few weeks.
Anyway, I've been trying to get him to take a large mouse for starters instead of his usual small rat. I popped it into the viv on a tray and gave it a wee twirl. He seemed interested and had a snuffle around it so I left him for 15 minutes. He hadn't touched it and curled up in his cat tray. Oh! Well! It won't go to waste and reached in remove the tray. Big mistake, he went for it big time, missed and nailed me instead. I think it was just the movement that kicked off the response.
Of course, he managed to get a couple of coils around my hand plus a good anchor hold with his tail around the log. You can see it in the previous photo. It is almost impossible to uncoil that tail using one hand. Luckily, I had the camera handy to capture moments like this for posterity. Unfortunately, the Plan-A bottle of meths release was just out of reach. You would have appreciated me doing kung-fu high kicks to try and knock it over. Even Jackie Chan would have struggled. Remember that I'm trying to do this from a crouched position at a floor level viv.
OK, time for Plan-B. After 10 minutes I figured on one.
Slide his tail along and off the branch. That worked but meant more hand coils and a harder chomp down. At least I could stand up and get the crick in my back stretched. Had a pig of a job stopping that tail get wrapped around anything else. That's why there is blood all over the shop, I was dancing a jig trying to trap his tail under my foot. A wee dab of meths on the trapped finger and he literally spat me out. I'm sure I heard a loud BLECH!. Bundled him back into the viv and I was off to the bathroom to tend the shredded flesh.
The actual damage is laughable considering the free flow of blood. There were only a couple of deeper punctures that caused it. The others were no worse than a tag from a Corn. There is only slight bruising and a bit of tenderness due to the time clamped and the leverage he managed with that tail.
Sorry to disappoint you all but this is all I have to show for this episode. About the same 'damage' on the other side of my finger. The up side is that by the time I had cleaned up and counted the fingers ..... He had eaten the mouse. Yay! RESULT!!

PMSL. That's a winner, G.
I am deeply touched, nay, overwhelmed by the concern and interest shown for salvaging my home decor. Now has anyone any bright ideas on how to disguise the big clean blotches that have appeared!
BTW, the finger is fine. Slightly punctured and bruised but still serviceable. |
